On February 2nd the CVACTA held the 2011 awards presentations at Cindi Highfill’s home at 19443 Vontay Rd in Maidens, Va. Approximately thirty members attended. From 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm members socialized and enjoyed all the delicious dishes prepared by the members. At 7:30 Pat Martin conducted a brief meeting. Pat introduced the new board for 2012.
She said we should know if the club will be approved for a 501(c)3, non profit status, sometime this summer as it takes quite a while to process. She announced that the number of volunteer hours needed to be eligible for year end awards for 2012 has not changed from four. Riders are responsible for sending in the completed award form within forty five days of the show.
Dressage awards are new for 2012 and the following are the award rules:
1. The same horse and rider must earn all the required scores.
2. The dressage levels covered by this program are Intro Level and the USDF levels Training through Fourth Level.
3. A minimum of four scores must be submitted, at least one of which must be the highest test of the level.
4. Scores from both licensed shows and schooling shows will be used. All licensed shows are eligible for inclusion, plus any schooling shows sponsored by CVACTA, VADA, or any schooling shows put on by a member of CVACTA.
5. Scores must be from at least two different judges and the judges must be “L” level graduates or higher.
6. Scores should be submitted within forty five days of the date of the show and a copy of the first page of the dressage test showing the score should be included with the score submission
report.
Eligibility for all awards require you to have completed all your volunteer hours, be a current member and attend the awards meeting.
Three items were approved at the meeting. $530 was approved for the awards dinner, $600 was approved for the three $200 scholarship drawings for the evening, and $970 was approved to pay the insurance premium.
